Minimalist Space

Black and white minimalist lines dominate this Old University area renovation, but the natural tone hardwood flooring warms the space. This sleek and modern kitchen is deceptively simple. A myriad of details enhance the space. The barn door hides an office area, while drywall window returns highlight the window choices. The specialty glass window sits flush with the hardwood floor allowing for maximum light and the Caesarstone countertop meets the wide-open kitchen window. Looking for a change from traditional? Let’s talk.

Elora Country Porch Views

It was our absolute pleasure to be part of this extensive update and addition as a collaboration between architect, landscaping architect, and Sutcliffe Homes skilled carpenters. When working in a home built with the utmost attention paid to detail, our team matches that attention in recreating existing details, and creating new features that will stand the test of time. We created a large, raised patio below an existing second-floor balcony, including a beautiful BBQ area. The second-floor balcony received modern frameless glass guards, while the main patio was constructed with all of the details originally intended for this home, including custom gussets, spooling, and tongue and groove pine ceilings. Further, all of the existing gingerbread soffit detail was removed and re-created out of an Extira composite material, to match the original scrolled pine. Everywhere you look, there is detail in this project, which we know the homeowners will enjoy, along with their view, for many years to come.

Craftsman Front Porch

This Craftsman Style front porch is the culmination of a design/build process that delighted the home owners. This home on Bedford Road, just outside the city of Guelph, was ready for some inspired curb appeal. The clients brought dreams, and the team at Sutcliffe put pen to paper to bring the design to life. This detailed porch incorporates many elements of a classic Craftsman design with some modern convenience. New Maibec siding on the home, as well as composite decking and LED lighting, bring this 1950’s theme porch up to date. It is now a daily escape or a cozy place to work. Sutcliffe Homes and Renovations can create a new outdoor living and working space, or extend your living space with detail and function to the outdoors.

Old University Infill Home

The Old University neighbourhood in Guelph, Ontario is certainly a fantastic starting point for a tremendous end product! With this project, Sutcliffe Homes and Renovations was able to take a late 1950’s bungalow that was ready to start a new life, remove the existing home as well as a large portion of the foundation, and start fresh. We worked closely with the designer and new home owners to create a product that would suit their taste and compliment its surroundings. The result is this stunning sprawling bungalow on a city lot. Attention was paid to the use of every inch of the home, while still creating grand spaces and soaring ceilings. The attention to detail can be seen everywhere with this home both inside and out.

Exhibition Park Renovation

The Exhibition Park area is one of Guelph’s classic neighbourhoods. Picture a large, amenity-filled city park surrounded by an eclectic mix of century homes only a short walk from downtown.
Like many renovation projects it started with the need for a practical revamping of an existing space. In this case reworking the staircase to allow for a cleaner landing and some additional storage. In keeping with the character of this charming home the renovation featured painted cabinets with a vintage back-splash and granite counter-top, custom wall paneling with transom windows and a custom pocket door leading to the hideaway pantry and stairway landing.

Sunny Acres Addition

This addition is a 600 square foot work of art blended onto the side and rear of this century-old Guelph stone home. The clients approached Sutcliffe Homes after an architect drew their plans. They were ready for pricing and comment. The project presented many challenges – the small city lot, matching in the limestone and installing stone arches from the old to the new. The project grew to include installing a flagstone patio with barbecue pit and hot tub area. Working daily with the knowledgeable and talented purchasers made the project easier as decisions were made quickly and resulted in a truly beautiful home.
